Chris Isaak, The Wilbur Theater Boston, MA 08/20/2017
Chris Isaak gave a fantastic show that was filled with music and laughter. There was no opening act thank God! Chris came on at 7:20pm and played for 1 hour and 50 minutes. His band came on wearing black suits with grey ties. Classy. Then the man himself came out wearing a blue suit with a sequined motif on the jacket and the lower portion of the pants. He always has a retro look to him. If you are not too familiar with him his sound is at times country and other times early rock. I loved hearing Two Hearts and Somebody's Crying. He did great covers of Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire and Roy Orbison's Oh, Pretty Woman. Blue Hotel I always thought had a 60s surfer song mood to it. We got his big hit Wicked Game and since this is Boston, it was wicked! So happy to hear San Francisco Days, Speak Of The Devil, Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing, and Let Me Down Easy. Through out the show there was much interaction with the audience and humor. He even went up to the balcony. He had me in tears I was laughing so much with stuff he said. I felt the night had the feel of what the Rat Pack shows must have been like back in the day in Vegas. When he came back out for the encore he had changed into what I can only describe as a Disco ball suit. And that man can twirl from my ceiling anytime. Alas, I did not get the engagement ring but I guess there's always next time. He thanked the audience at the beginning of the show for coming out and supporting live music. It's what I live for Chris, it's what I live for.
