Chris Isaak, The Wilbur Theater Boston, MA 08/20/2017

Chris Isaak gave a fantastic show that was filled with music and laughter. There was no opening act thank God! Chris came on at 7:20pm and played for 1 hour and 50 minutes. His band came on wearing black suits with grey ties. Classy. Then the man himself came out wearing a blue suit with a sequined motif on the jacket and the lower portion of the pants. He always has a retro look to him. If you are not too familiar with him his sound is at times country and other times early rock. I loved hearing Two Hearts and Somebody's Crying. He did great covers of Johnny Cash's Ring Of Fire and Roy Orbison's Oh, Pretty Woman. Blue Hotel I always thought had a 60s surfer song mood to it. We got his big hit Wicked Game and since this is Boston, it was wicked! So happy to hear San Francisco Days, Speak Of The Devil, Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing, and Let Me Down Easy. Through out the show there was much interaction with the audience and humor. He even went up to the balcony. He had me in tears I was laughing so much with stuff he said. I felt the night had the feel of what the Rat Pack shows must have been like back in the day in Vegas. When he came back out for the encore he had changed into what I can only describe as a Disco ball suit. And that man can twirl from my ceiling anytime. Alas, I did not get the engagement ring but I guess there's always next time. He thanked the audience at the beginning of the show for coming out and supporting live music. It's what I live for Chris, it's what I live for.

The Sinner (TV Series, USA Network 2017)

The Sinner is a murder mystery. But, it's not a whodunit because we are given that up front. The mystery here is why. Why would a seemingly normal housewife/mother randomly go up to a man on the beach and knife him to death? Even before the murder though we get a feeling something isn't quite right with Cora Tannetti played by Jessica Biel. Bill Pullman plays detective Harry Ambrose who is trying to figure out what is really going on with Cora and why she did what seems to be this motiveless crime. And Harry himself is an interesting character with his fetishes. At times this series can be a little sexually graphic for a non-premium channel so keep the kiddies away from this one. There is a dream like quality to the episodes. You begin to think in the second episode oh I see what's going on here then nope you don't. The third episode airs Wednesday 08/16 at 10pm. If you like a story that gives you the feeling you're on uncertain footing than this is for you. I'm sticking with it.

Get The Led Out Boston, MA 08/10/2017

Get The Led Out was more like I Can't Wait To Get Out. Last night at The Wilbur Theater I went to see the tribute band of Led Zeppelin. Unfortunately, it was a miserable experience. They are a tribute band that is not trying to imitate the band's appearance. What they are trying to do is give you a great simulation of the sound. But that sound was way too loud. The Wilbur is not a big theater and they were pushing up the decibels like it was a stadium. It was just noise frankly for the most part. Hard to make out what the lyrics were and painful to the ears. Next problem was the lighting. I swear they were trying to blind the audience. It was like a minute could not go by without a harsh light in my eyes. So your trying to destroy my hearing and my sight. Not seeing enjoyment in that. Now even if you could hear and see, unless you're a hard core Led Zeppelin fan you wouldn't have known most of the songs. You're a tribute band so play the damn hits! And, I believe they're beginning to think they are the famous band and have the clout to not start on time with a show that was to be at 8pm and had the nerve to do half hour intermission. What??!! While they were doing the encore I was done. They started Stairway To Heaven and I was taking the stairway to the peaceful Boston streets.

Earth, Wind And Fire/ Chic Feat. Nile Rodgers Boston, MA 08/05/2017

Last night the grooves were laid down by Earth, Wind And Fire and Nile Rodgers with Chic. Chic was the opening act and Nile Rodgers was incredibly nice and took pics and shook hands with fans before the start of the show. I was far back at the TD Garden in Boston so didn't get that wonderful opportunity. He was decked out all in white and he called them his disco clothes. He started out with classics like Everybody Dance and Dance, Dance, Dance. He did a medley of hits he wrote for other people like I'm Coming Out and Upside Down (Diana Ross) as well as Let's Dance (David Bowie). And a very moving moment when we found out the hit with Daft Punk Get Lucky was written in the middle of a fight of an aggressive form of cancer that he beat. He finished with the faves Le Freak and Good Times and had a group of people from the audience up on stage to dance. Earth, Wind And Fire were amazing. They were mostly wearing black except for Verdine White who was wearing a white shirt and red sequined pants-wow! They had on screen at times all their Egyptian/ Illuminati graphics. Very cool. I was thrilled to hear Phillip Bailey sing. His son is part of the group. Very like his father. Out of the gate we got Shining Star. I was flying when I got my birthday song 🎼Do you remember the 21st night of SEPTEMBER?🎶 And everybody was a Disco Danny or Diva with Boogie Wonderland. And Let's Groove was awesome! Decades of fun served up in one show. Loved it!
